How do I restore purchases?
In Matin, open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. The same option is available on the subscription screen. Make sure you're signed in to the Apple ID that was used for the original purchase.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open iOS Settings, tap your name, choose Subscriptions, then select Matin to manage or cancel. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Why does Matin ask for location?
Matin uses your location to include local weather in your morning briefing. Location is captured the evening before, so the briefing reflects where you actually are when traveling. You can turn location access off in iOS Settings, but weather details may be missing.
Why does Matin ask for calendar access?
Calendar access lets Matin summarize tomorrow's events in your briefing. Your calendar account never leaves your device. Only tomorrow's events are sent, and they're forgotten after the briefing plays. If you deny calendar access, Matin still works as an alarm, but the briefing won't reference your day.
How is my briefing created?
Each evening, a small payload with tomorrow's events, your approximate location, and your chosen personality is sent from your device to our backend. Anthropic generates the script, ElevenLabs creates the audio, and the file is stored briefly on Cloudflare before reaching your device. The audio file is automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Why didn't my briefing include weather or events?
Weather and calendar details depend on permission settings, network availability, and whether there's relevant data to include. If your device has no network connection at the time of your alarm, Matin plays a short pre-recorded briefing instead, which won't reference your day. Check iOS Settings and confirm Matin has the access you want it to use.
What if I tap Stop and the app doesn't open?
On rare occasions, during a phone call, with Low Power Mode on, or when stopping from Apple Watch, iOS can prevent the app from opening automatically. If that happens, Matin sends a quiet notification a few seconds later so you can tap into the app and hear your briefing.
Why should I keep a backup alarm?
Any phone alarm can be affected by device settings, battery level, volume, Focus modes, iOS behavior, or permissions. Use a backup alarm whenever waking up at a specific time is critical.
